System Overview: Signals

The table below summarizes input and output signals to and from the steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS). The signal types are divided into directly connected signals, and CAN communication.

Steering wheel angle sensor  (7/91). Provides the steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS) with relevant information about the steering wheel angle from the straight ahead position, the speed of the steering wheel movements and about which direction the steering wheel is turned.  
Via Controller Area Network (CAN) communication:  Via Controller Area Network (CAN) communication: 
  Steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS)  provides the following control modules with information about, among other things, the position of the steering wheel and the speed of the steering wheel movement.
  • Brake control module (BCM) (4/16)
  • Suspension module (SUM) (4/84)
  • Engine control module (ECM) (4/46)
  • Headlamp Control Module (HCM) (4/118) (Applies up to and incl. structure week 201119)
  • Central electronic module (CEM) (4/56)
  • Transmission Control Module (TCM) (4/28)
  • Differential electronic module (DEM) (4/82)
  • Forward Sensing Module (FSM) (4/80)
  • Driver information module (DIM) (5/1)
  • Closing velocity module (CVM) (4/125)
