Test Drive Form (Abs), Description

WARNING:
Problems with the brakes may make the car difficult to maneuver. Always test drive cars under safe, controlled conditions. Follow the appropriate traffic and speed regulations.
- The ignition must be switched off so that the control module can engage the ABS system
- Start the engine and watch for the brake failure warning lamp. If this comes on, do not drive car. Check the brake fluid level. The hydraulic braking system must be checked for leaks if the brake fluid level is too low. Fault-trace according to the fault symptom "Brake circuit out of function, warning lamp lit" if the brake fluid level is OK.
- Drive at a speed of at least 50 km/h. If the ABS warning lamp lights or does not go out, read off any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) that have been stored and fault-trace accordingly. If no diagnostic trouble code (DTC)s are stored but the light comes on, fault-trace according to the fault symptoms
- Brake several times to stop from a suitable speed on an even, dry road. At least one braking should activate ABS control from a speed above 50 km/h. Make a note of any unusual noise or abnormal behavior. Listen particularly for clicks or bangs. See whether the car pulls to one side or if the brake pedal does not seem to be working normally. Fault-trace according to the relevant symptom.
If the ABS (Anti-spin) warning indicator comes on, return to the workshop and read off any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) which have been stored. Make a note of the driving conditions under which the warning lamp(s) came on. Carry out fault-tracing according to the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) that is stored.
