System Overview: Components
The following components are included in the automatic transmission control system:
- Transmission Control Module (TCM)
- Check system
- Wiring, check system
- Oil temperature sensor
- Linear pressure solenoid SL1
- Shift solenoid S1
- Transmission speed sensor, output speed
- Linear pressure solenoid SL4
- Linear pressure solenoid SL5
- Lock-up solenoid SLU
- Shift solenoid S2
- Linear pressure solenoid SL2
- Linear pressure solenoid SL3
- Speed sensor input rpm
- Linear pressure solenoid SLT
- Electromagnetic oil pump EMOP (not on hybrid vehicles (A)).
- Electric oil pump EOP (only on hybrid vehicles (B)).
- Transmission Control Module (TCM) - Controls activation/deactivation of the solenoids by means of processing the input signals from the transmission speed, rpm and temperature sensors. Also stores adaptive data and diagnostic trouble codes and frozen values for diagnostics.
- Gear position sensor, integrated with Transmission Control Module (TCM) - Provides Transmission Control Module (TCM) information on selected gear position.
- Solenoid, S1 - OFF/ON solenoid, used for certain shifting.
- Solenoid, S2 - OFF/ON solenoid, used for certain shifting as well as controls the engine brake in 1st gear.
- Lock-up solenoid, SLU - Controls the lock-up function and also used with certain gearshifts.
- Linear pressure solenoid, SLT - Controls transmission system pressure.
- Linear pressure solenoid, SL1 - Controls transmission gearshift pressure and also used with certain gearshifts.
- Linear pressure solenoid, SL2 - Controls transmission gearshift pressure and also used with certain gearshifts.
- Linear pressure solenoid, SL3 - Controls transmission gearshift pressure and also used with certain gearshifts.
- Linear pressure solenoid, SL4 - Controls transmission gearshift pressure and also used with certain gearshifts.
- Linear pressure solenoid, SL5 - Controls transmission gearshift pressure and also used with certain gearshifts.
- Electromagnetic oil pump EMOP (Not on hybrid vehicles) - The function of the oil pump is to provide the correct pressure and flow to the transmission during automatic start/stop of the engine.
- Electric oil pump EOP (only on hybrid vehicles) - The function of the oil pump is to provide the correct pressure and flow to the transmission during automatic start/stop of the engine and during electric operation. Controlled via the electric oil pump control module (4/146).
- Speed sensor, input shaft - Provides the Transmission Control Module (TCM) with information about the input shaft speed from the engine.
- Speed sensor, output shaft - Provides the Transmission Control Module (TCM) with information about the output shaft speed from the transmission.
- Oil temperature sensor - Provides Transmission Control Module (TCM) information on transmission oil temperature.
- Gear Selector Module (GSM) - Provides Transmission Control Module (TCM) information such as Geartronic mode.
