Control, FLEXIFUEL (B5254T8)
The fuel's ethanol content is calculated by the Engine control module (ECM) according to the same principle as other fuel adaptations.
The calculated value is stored in RAM and is saved to EEPROM after running. If this value, for one reason or another, does not correspond with the true ethanol content in the tank this can have a negative effect on the vehicle's drivability.
Therefore, incorrect ethanol content, among others, may be a cause of a diagnostic trouble code being generated, but there are no diagnostic trouble codes that directly disclose if the calculated value is correct.
The vehicle can also work well with an incorrectly calculated ethanol content.
In order to rectify the problem of incorrectly calculated ethanol content there is a possibility to calculate the true value, and to program in the new correct content.
