Unlocking The Trunk Lid/Tailgate

The lock unit in the tailgate is unlocked during a normal unlocking procedure. The tailgate can also be unlocked separately with a button on the remote control. The tailgate can also be opened independently of the central locking system with the key in the lock cylinder on the tailgate. The lock cylinder is only on vehicles with a factory-fitted auxiliary rear facing seat. If the tailgate is opened with the key in the lock cylinder then the alarm will be triggered if more than 26 seconds has elapsed since locking the central locking (applies to vehicles with alarm function).

The lock unit on the tailgate is directly connected to the rear electronic module (REM).
