Clutch Pedal Switch, 75 %

The task of the clutch pedal switch is to provide the Engine Control Module (ECM) with information about whether the clutch pedal is depressed enough to conclude that the gearbox is disengaged. The clutch pedal switch is directly connected to the Engine Control Module (ECM).

Because communication on the HS CAN can temporarily go down at start up, two information sources are used for the clutch pedal position. This is to prevent interference on startup. The Engine Control Module (ECM) therefore also receives information about the clutch pedal's position from the clutch pedal position sensor via the Central Electronic Module (CEM).

The clutch pedal switch is in its original position (clutch pedal not depressed) open and powered from the engine compartment relay/fusebox (KL30). When the clutch pedal is depressed more than 75%, the switch closes and a high signal (12 V) is transmitted to the Engine Control Module (ECM).

The clutch pedal switch is mechanically installed and adjusted so that the stroke occurs at 75% of full pedal movement.

The clutch pedal contact must function faultlessly for the autostart and Automatic start/stop of engine functions to work.

The Engine Control Module (ECM) can diagnose the clutch pedal switch. The status (position) of the switch can be read using the diagnostic tool.

The clutch pedal switch is on the pedal box by the clutch pedal.
