Oil Level And Oil Temperature Sensor
The sensor is a combined oil level and oil temperature sensor.
The function of the sensor is to provide the engine control module (ECM) information on the level and temperature of engine oil in the oil pan.
The sensor consists of:
- a terminal with three pins
- integrated electronics
- a PTC resistor
- A capacitative section, consisting two pipes with a space. One pipe is the positive side and the other pipe is the negative side. The capacitative characteristics occur when there is oil between the pipes.
The sensor is supplied 5 V by the engine control module (ECM). The sensor generates a PWM signal to the engine control module (ECM). Also refer to: FUNCTION
The sensor is diagnosed by the engine control module (ECM). Also refer to: OIL LEVEL AND OIL TEMPERATURE SENSOR, DIAGNOSTICS (CERTAIN MARKETS ONLY)
The pulse-width modulated (PWM) signal from the sensor can be read using parameter readout.
