Oil Level And Oil Temperature Sensor

The sensor is a combined oil level and oil temperature sensor. The function of the sensor is to provide the engine control module (CEM) information on the engine oil level and temperature in the oil pan. The level is measured using ultrasound. The temperature is measured using a PTC-resistor. The contact consists of three pins.

When a yellow alert lamp with the text message with the text "Oil level low" is displayed in the driver information module, one liter of oil can be filled. When the red lamp comes on, another three deciliters have been used. In both cases, the advice is to fill with up to a liter. When the light comes on differ between car profiles and model years.

The sensor is supplied with 12 V from the engine control module (ECM) and generates a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal to the engine control module (ECM).

The engine control module (ECM) can diagnose the sensor.

The component is fitted to the bottom of the oil pan.
