Connection And Communication

The Engine Control Module (ECM) is a:

• CAN domain slave.
• Private CAN domain master.
• LIN master.

For vehicles up to model year -2018 the Engine Control Module (ECM) communicates via propulsion CAN.

For vehicles from model year 2018- with a second generation VEA engine there is an extra private CAN between the Engine Control Module (ECM) and the Transmission Control Module (TCM). The control modules are also connected to propulsion CAN but primarily use the private CAN for their intercommunication.
