Pick-Up Assembly Test

Disconnect control module harness. Connect ohmmeter leads to pick-up assembly connector. Resistance should be 990-1210 ohms. Using a hand-held vacuum pump, activate vacuum advance diaphragm. Resistance should not change. Move one ohmmeter lead to distributor body. Resistance should be infinite ohms. Replace pick-up assembly if not within specification. Using a non-magnetic feeler gauge, check air gap between stator pole and trigger. Gap should be .012-.020" (.30-.50 mm).
