Air Injection System: Description: Notes

The air injection system supplies fresh air just downstream of each exhaust valve. The fresh air allows unburnt exhaust gases to continue burning in the exhaust manifold, before being released into the atmosphere. System components include a belt-driven air pump, a check valve, a diverter valve, and a pressure relief valve.
