Exploded View Of Steering Gear

  1. Install the steering gear into the jaw vice.

  2. Alignment mark on the joint ends of tie rod and steering.

    3. Attention:  Distinguish between the left and right end.

  3. Remove the rubber bushing.
  4. Disassemble the outer tie rod end assembly.
  5. Disassemble the spring clamp.
  6. Disassemble clamp.
  7. Remove expansion rubber sleeve (bellows boot).
  8. Disassemble the tie rod ball joint assembly.

  9. Use the jaw vice to take off lock nut of the tie rod ball joint assembly.

  10. Adjust the plug lock nut
  11. Unscrew the adjustable plug.
    1. Unscrew adjustable plug.
    2. Take off adjustable spring and block.

  12. Take off steering rack.

    13. Attention: 

    • Pull the rack out of housing from side as shown in the figure to avoid damaging rack guide bushing.
    • Do not rotate the rack and keep it flat and straight when pulling it out.

  13. Take off oil seal with a screwdriver.

    14. Attention:  Be careful not to damage steering housing during removal. Do not reuse the dismantled oil seal.

  14. Remove retainer ring with snap ring pliers.

    15. Attention:  Do not reuse the removed retainer ring.

  15. Disassemble steering rack and bearing.

  16. Remove bearing retainer ring with circlip pliers.

    Attention:  Do not reuse the removed retainer ring.

  17. Disassemble ball bearings with a puller.

    18. Attention:  Do not reuse the removed ball bearing.
