Power Steering (P/S) Switch

  1. Remove P/S switch 2-wire connector. Check continuity at P/S switch while turning steering wheel left or right. If continuity does not change, replace P/S switch.
  2. To check wiring harness, disconnect P/S switch 2-wire connector. Turn ignition on. Ensure battery voltage is present between P/S switch terminals. If no voltage is present, repair open in wire(s). If wires are okay, substitute a known good ECU. If problem goes away, replace ECU.
NOTE: The following tests can only be performed with PGM-FI Test Harness (07LAJ-PT3010A ). Terminals on PGM-FI test harness connectors match terminals on ECU and ECU connectors. This allows the technician to test continuity of specified wires and resistance of devices when the ECU is disconnected. When ECU is connected to PGM-FI test harness, sensor input values can be monitored (at the test connector terminals) while engine is in operation. To identify ECU terminals, See Figure .
