Set/Resume Switch
NOTE:
This test procedure also tests clockspring in steering column.
- Disable air bag system. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article. Locate clockspring Yellow 6-pin connector under steering column. Connect SIR Test Harness "C" (07LAZ-SL40300) to clockspring Yellow 6-pin connector. Depress SET button to ON position. Check for continuity between SIR Test Harness 8-pin connector terminal No. 2 (Light Green/Red wire on clockspring harness) and terminal No. 3 (Blue/Green wire on clockspring harness). See Fig 1 . If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, go to step 3).
- Depress RESUME button to ON position. Check for continuity between SIR Test Harness "C" connector terminal No. 1 (Light Green/Black wire on clockspring harness) and terminal No. 3 (Blue/Green wire on clockspring harness). If continuity exists, switch is okay. If continuity does not exist, go to step 3).
- Remove SET/RESUME switch from steering wheel. See SET/RESUME SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. With switch in OFF position, check for continuity between switch terminals "A" or "A' ". Depress SET button to ON position. Check for continuity between switch terminals "A" or "A' " and "C". Depress RESUME button to ON position. Check for continuity between switch terminals "A" or "A' " and "B". See Fig 2 . If continuity exists, replace clockspring. See the AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article. If continuity does not exist, replace SET/RESUME switch.
