Preliminary Procedure

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Ensure brakes do not drag. Turn ignition switch to ON position and ensure ABS indicator light comes on. If ABS indicator light does not come on, go to appropriate flow chart. See ABS SELF-DIAGNOSTIC FLOW CHARTS .
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect ABS Tester (07HAJ-SG0010B) to Orange 6-pin ABS test connector, located under glove box. Put transmission in Park position (A/T).
  3. Start engine and release parking brake. Place mode selector to "1" position. Push START TEST button. See Fig 1. TEST IN PROGRESS light should come on. ABS indicator light should not come on when TEST IN PROGRESS light is on. If ABS indicator light comes on, confirm DTC and perform appropriate self-diagnostic flow chart. If tester lights do not illuminate, ABS tester is faulty.
CAUTION: DO NOT move mode selector switch while TEST IN PROGRESS light is on. ABS tester could be damaged.
NOTE: Kickback on brake pedal should occur approximately 20 seconds after START TEST button is pushed. Wheel sensors and sensor wiring harnesses are not checked by ABS tester.

  5. If ABS indicator light comes on during test, confirm DTC and perform appropriate self-diagnostic flow chart. If ABS indicator light does not come on and controlled wheel cannot be rotated, check modulator wiring harness connectors. If connectors are okay, replace modulator.
  6. Place mode selector in "3", "4" and then "5" positions. Repeat steps 4) and 5) for each test mode. Breakdown of each test mode is as follows:
