Modulator Function Check

NOTE: This check ensure basic brake system operates normally when modulator unit high-pressure side is low.
  1. Relieve system pressure. See RELIEVING ACCUMULATOR/LINE PRESSURE . Support and raise vehicle. Firmly depress brake pedal and ensure wheels do not rotate. If wheels can be rotated, replace modulator unit.
  2. Start engine to operate ABS pump motor. Keep brake fluid reservoir full. If brake fluid reservoir empties, bleed high-pressure brake fluid. See ACCUMULATOR, MODULATOR & ABS PUMP (POWER UNIT) BLEEDING . If ABS pump motor operates for approximately 40 seconds, ABS indicator light will come on and ABS pump motor will stop. Turn engine off and restart engine to operate ABS pump motor until.
  3. If ABS indicator light comes on, remove ABS B2 fuse (15-amp) for 3 seconds or more to erase DTC after servicing. When ABS pump motor stops, refill brake fluid reservoir.
