Gearshift Position Switch: 3.5RL

Pull back carpet under passenger's seat to expose HO2S connector. Disconnect and push connector and harness outside of vehicle through floor. Raise vehicle. Remove exhaust pipe bracket and exhaust pipe. Remove HO2S harness cover and catalytic converter. Remove heat shields and disconnect gearshift position switch connector.
Using a DVOM, check for continuity between specified terminals while moving the gearshift lever to specified positions. Refer to the GEARSHIFT POSITION SWITCH TEST (3.5RL) . Also, see Fig 1 . If switch tests okay, test is complete. If switch does not indicate continuity in any position, adjust switch and retest. See ADJUSTMENTS . If one or more terminals do not indicate continuity, replace switch. See GEARSHIFT POSITION SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
