Audio System Information Does Not Display On The Display Panel (Without Navigation) Or Audio-HVAC Subdisplay Unit (With Navigation). The HVAC controls may also be affected.

  1. Check for DTCs in the display module control unit.

    Are there any DTCs? 

    1. YES  - Troubleshoot the DTCs.
    2. NO  - Go to step  2.
  2. Disconnect display panel control unit connector A (14P).
  3. Disconnect audio unit connector C (26P).
  4. Check for continuity between audio unit connector C (26P) terminals and display panel control unit connector A (14P) terminals according to the table.
    AUDIO UNIT SPECIFICATIONS

    Audio unit terminal Display panel control unit (14P) terminal Wire color
    C26 A11 RED
    C13 A3 BLU
    C9 A8 BLU/WHT
    C8 A9 GRN/ORN

    Is there continuity? 

    1. YES  - Go to step  5.
    2. NO  - Repair an open in the wire between the audio unit and the display panel control unit.
  5. Check for continuity between audio unit connector C (26P) terminals in the table and body ground. Then check for continuity between the terminals in the table and audio connector C (26P) No. 12 terminal (the harness shield).
    AUDIO UNIT SPECIFICATIONS

    Audio unit (26P) terminal Wire color
    C26 RED
    C13 BLU
    C9 BLU/WHT
    C8 GRN/ORN

    Is there continuity? 

    1. YES  - Repair a short in the wire between the audio unit and the display module control unit, or replace the appropriate shielded harness.
    2. NO  -
      • Without navigation: Go to step  6.
      • With navigation: Go to step  9.
  6. Substitute a known-good display panel.
  7. Reconnect all connectors.
  8. Check the display.

    Does the display operate properly? 

    1. YES  - Replace the display panel control unit (see DISPLAY PANEL CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
    2. NO  - Replace the audio unit (see AUDIO UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
  9. Check the connections at the audio-HVAC subdisplay unit connector (10P) and the display panel control unit connector E (22P).

    Are the connectors and terminals connected properly? 

    1. YES  - Go to step  10.
    2. NO  - Repair the connection and recheck.
  10. Disconnect the audio-HVAC subdisplay unit connector (10P).
  11. Disconnect the display panel control unit connector E (22P).
  12. Check for continuity between the audio-HVAC subdisplay unit connector (1 OP) and the display panel control unit connector E (22P) terminals for each wire listed in the table.

    Is there continuity? 

    1. YES  - Go to step  13.
    2. NO  - Repair an open in the wire between the display panel control unit and the audio-HVAC subdisplay unit.
  13. Check for continuity between each audio-HVAC subdisplay unit connector (10P) terminal and body ground according to the table. Then check for continuity between the terminals in the table and audio connector C (26P) No. 12 terminal (the harness shield).

    Is there continuity? 

    1. YES  - Repair the short to ground in the wire between the display panel control unit and the audio-HVAC subdisplay unit, or replace the appropriate shielded harness.
    2. NO  - Go to step  14.
  14. Substitute a known-good audio-HVAC subdisplay unit and recheck.

    Does the subdisplay work properly? 

    1. YES  - Replace the original audio-HVAC subdisplay unit.
    2. NO  - Substitute a known-good display panel control unit and retest. If the problem is gone, replace the original display panel control unit.
