Gauge Control Module Input Test

  1. Remove the gauge control module (see GAUGE CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT ).
  2. Disconnect the 18P connector from the gauge control module.
  3. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact.
    • If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system.
    • If the terminals look OK, go to step 4.

  4. Reconnect the connector to the gauge control module, and make these input tests at the connector.
    • If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
    • If all the input tests prove OK, go to step 5.

      • An open in the wire
B1 WHT/RED(1) RED(2) Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage
      • Blown No. 7 (10 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box
      • An open in the wire
B18 BLK Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.5 V.

  5. Disconnect the 18P connector from the gauge control module, and make these input tests at the connector.
    • If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
    • If all the input tests prove OK, the gauge control module must be faulty, replace it.
