Ignition Switch/Steering Lock: Test

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations (see COMPONENT LOCATION INDEX ) and precautions and procedures (see PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES ) before performing repairs or servicing.

  1. Make sure you have the anti-theft code for the radio and the navigation system, then write down the channels for the XM radio presets. Make sure the ignition switch is OFF.
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
  3. Remove the left front door sill trim and left kick panel (see B-PILLAR ).
  4. Disconnect the 6P connector from the driver's underdash fuse/relay box.

  5. Check for continuity between the terminals in each switch position according to the table.

  6. If the continuity checks do not agree with the table, replace the steering lock.
  7. After reconnecting the battery, enter the anti-theft code for the radio and the navigation system, then enter the customer's XM radio channel presets.
