Keyless Access System Description - Components
RF (Radio Frequency) Unit
The RF unit is included in a keyless access/TPMS control unit. The RF unit identifies the remotes code.
LF (Low Frequency) Antennas
The front interior, rear interior, left front, right front, left rear, and right rear LF antennas send the signals to the remote placed in the interior. The left front fender, right front fender, left rear fender, and right rear fender LF antennas send the signals to the remote outside of the vehicle.
Door Touch Sensors and Outer Handle Lock Switches
The door touch sensors and outer handle lock switches are built in the each door outer handles. To operate the door locks without the built-in key while carrying the remote, grip the door outer handle to unlock the doors and press the outer handle lock switch on the door outer handle to lock the doors.
Remote
The remote is equipped with a keyless transmitter, so both doors can be locked and unlocked by a lock/unlock button operation, even from a remote distance from the vehicle. When the key lock button or key unlock button is pressed, the keyless transmitter sends the applicable switch signal to the RF unit. After receiving the authentication between RF unit and keyless access/TPMS control unit, the door lock/unlock signals are sent to MICU through B-CAN communication.
ENGINE START/STOP Switch
When pressing the engine start/stop switch, it changes the vehicle to OFF (LOCK), ACCESSORY, or ON mode. The engine start/stop switch also includes an LF antenna. When operating the backup function engine start/stop switch receives the immobilizer signal from the remote, and send immobilizer signal to the keyless access/TPMS control unit.
Electric Steering Lock
The electric steering lock has built in the control unit, and it controls the steering lock solenoid. When keyless remote code is identified, the control unit makes the steering lock solenoid release. The keyless access/TPMS control unit recognizes a steering lock solenoid unlock then it sends a key switch unlock signal to the MICU.
Keyless Buzzer
The keyless buzzer located inside the rear bumper sounds when smart entry function.
