DTC B14A6: Front Camera Image Input Failure

DTC Description DTC Freeze Frame
B14A6 Front camera image input failure    

DTC (MVCS)

NOTE:  If DTC B14AF is stored at the same time as DTC B14A6, troubleshoot DTC B14AF first, then recheck for DTC B14A6.

B14AF Camera power supply voltage failure    
  1. DTC check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    - 3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode, then the ON mode.

    - 4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    B14A6 Front Camera Image Input Failure    

    Is DTC B14A6 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.

  2. Open wire check (FR CAM VCC, FR CAM GND, FR CAM VID, FR CAM SH lines)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Disconnect the following connectors.

    Front camera 4P connector
    Multi view camera unit connector B (24P)

    - 3. Check for continuity between the front camera 4P connector terminal and the multi view camera unit connector B (24P) terminal (see table).

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Front camera 4P connector: disconnected
      Multi view camera unit connector B (24P): disconnected

    FR CAM VCC No. 2 No. 2
    FR CAM GND No. 1 No. 14
    FR CAM VID No. 4 No. 1
    FR CAM SH No. 3 No. 13

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Go to step 3.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the wire between the front camera and the multi view camera unit.

  3. Multi view camera unit check

    -1. Reconnect the following connector.

    Multi view camera unit connector B (24P)

    - 2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2 without disconnecting the multi view camera unit connector B (24P).

    Test condition ON mode
      Front camera 4P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 Multi view camera unit connector B (24P) No. 2
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 5.7-6.5 V?

    YES 

    Go to step 4.

    NO 

    Replace the multi view camera unit .

  4. Shorted wire check (FR CAM VCC line)

    -1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition ON mode
      Front camera 4P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 Front camera 4P connector No. 2:
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 5.7-6.5 V?

    YES 

    Go to step 5.

    NO 

    Repair a short in the wires between the front camera and multi view camera unit.

  5. Shorted wire check (FR CAM VID line) 1

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Multi view camera unit connector B (24P)

    - 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Front camera 4P connector: disconnected
      Multi view camera unit connector B (24P): disconnected
    Test point 1 Multi view camera unit connector B (24P) No. 1
    Test point 2 Multi view camera unit connector B (24P) No. 13

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair a short in the wires between the front camera and multi view camera unit.

    NO 

    Go to step 6.

  6. Shorted wire check (FR CAM VID line) 2

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Front camera 4P connector: disconnected
      Multi view camera unit connector B (24P): disconnected
    Test circuits   

    Multi View Camera Unit Connector B (24P) Terminal

    Test point 1  Test points 2 
    FR CAM VID to

    FR CAM VCC, RR CAM VID, RR CAM VCC, R CAM VID, R CAM VCC, L CAM VID, L CAM VCC, MVC VID

    No. 1 (BLK) No. 2 (WHT), No. 3 (BLK), No. 4 (WHT), No. 5 (BLK), No. 6 (WHT), No. 7 (BLK), No. 8 (WHT), No. 10 (BLK)

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair a short in the wires between the appropriate camera and the multi view camera unit.

    NO 

    Go to step 7.

  7. Front camera check

    -1. Reconnect the following connectors.

    Front camera 4P connector
    Multi view camera unit connector B (24P)

    - 2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 3. Connect terminals A and B with a jumper wire.

    NOTE:  Check the DTC B14A7 is not stored with the HDS.

    Terminal A Multi view camera unit connector B (24P) No. 1
    Terminal B Multi view camera unit connector B (24P) No. 3

    Does the rear camera image appear at the front camera image on the display?

    YES 

    Replace the front camera - Refer to: Multi View Front Camera Removal and Installation or Multi View Side Camera Removal and Installation .

    NO 

    Replace the multi view camera unit .
