1. A.-

   Key Information 

   Do the following before starting your work.

   Remove: 

   • Front Strut Brace Assembly
   • Engine Heat Baffle - Refer to: Catalytic Converter/Turbocharger Area(3.0L Engine) or Catalytic Converter/Turbocharger Area(2.0L Engine)

   Move: 

   • Expansion Tank - Refer to: Radiator Area(2.0L Engine) or Radiator Area(3.0L Engine)
2. B.-
   NOTE:

   Do not try to disassemble the tandem motor cylinder except for the reservoir union. Replace the tandem motor cylinder with a new part if necessary.

   Preconditions 

   • 12 Volt Battery Terminal Disconnected
   • Brake Fluid Drained

     NOTE:  Drain the brake fluid from the reservoir with a syringe.

   Key Information 

   Do the following before starting your work.

   2.0 L Engine 

   Remove: 

   • Cowl Cover

   Disconnect: 

   • Brake Lines (Pedal Feel Simulator Side)

   3.0 L Engine 

   Remove: 

   • Windshield Wiper Area
     1. -

        Front Strut Brace Assembly

     2. -

        Windshield Wiper Cover

   • Catalytic Converter/Turbocharger Area - Refer to: Catalytic Converter/Turbocharger Area(3.0L Engine) or Catalytic Converter/Turbocharger Area(2.0L Engine)
     1. -

        Engine Heat Baffle

     2. -

        Engine Heat Baffle Lower Bracket

   • Expansion Tank Bracket - Refer to: Radiator Area(2.0L Engine) or Radiator Area(3.0L Engine)

   Move: 

   • Expansion Tank - Refer to: Radiator Area(2.0L Engine) or Radiator Area(3.0L Engine)

   Disconnect: 

   • Brake Lines (Pedal Feel Simulator Side)

   Sub-Procedure

   Removal 

   • Refer to the figure.
     NOTE:

     Be careful not to damage the pedal feel simulator surfaces and the threads of the booster stud bolts.

   After Installation 

   • 12 Volt Battery Terminal Reconnect
   • Brake System Bleeding - Refer to: Electric Servo Brake System Bleeding(3.0L Engine) or Electric Servo Brake System Bleeding(2.0L Engine)
3. C.-

   Preconditions 

   • Brake Fluid Drained

     NOTE:  Drain the brake fluid from the reservoir with a syringe.

   Key Information 

   Do the following before starting your work.

   2.0 L Engine 

   Remove: 

   • Windshield Wiper Cover

   3.0 L Engine 

   Remove: 

   • Windshield Wiper Area
     1. -

        Front Strut Brace Assembly

     2. -

        Windshield Wiper Cover

   Move: 

   • Expansion Tank - Refer to: Radiator Area(2.0L Engine) or Radiator Area(3.0L Engine)

   After Installation 

   • Brake System Bleeding - Refer to: Electric Servo Brake System Bleeding(3.0L Engine) or Electric Servo Brake System Bleeding(2.0L Engine)
4. D.-

   Preconditions 

   • Brake Fluid Drained

     NOTE:  Drain the brake fluid from the reservoir with a syringe.

   Key Information 

   Do the following before starting your work.

   Remove: 

   • Windshield Wiper Cover

   After Installation 

   • Brake System Bleeding - Refer to: Electric Servo Brake System Bleeding(3.0L Engine) or Electric Servo Brake System Bleeding(2.0L Engine)
5. E.-

   Preconditions 

   • 12 Volt Battery Terminal Disconnected
   • Brake Fluid Drained

     NOTE:  Drain the brake fluid from the reservoir with a syringe.

   Key Information 

   Do the following before starting your work.

   2.0 L Engine 

   Remove: 

   • Windshield Wiper Cover

   3.0 L Engine 

   Remove: 

   • Windshield Wiper Area
     1. -

        Front Strut Brace Assembly

     2. -

        Windshield Wiper Cover

   Move: 

   • Expansion Tank - Refer to: Radiator Area(2.0L Engine) or Radiator Area(3.0L Engine)

   Sub-Procedure 

   NOTE:

   Be careful not to damage the pedal feel simulator surfaces and the threads of the pedal feel simulator stud bolts.

   Removal 

   Refer to the figure 1 and 2.

   Installation 

   • Install the yoke spring (a) then install the clevis pin (b) and the lock pin (c). (Figure 3 and 4)

   Lubricant Specifications (Figure 4)

   • Install the lock pin as shown. (Figure 5)

   After Installation 

   • 12 Volt Battery Terminal Reconnect
   • Brake System Bleeding - Refer to: Electric Servo Brake System Bleeding(3.0L Engine) or Electric Servo Brake System Bleeding(2.0L Engine)
   • Brake Pedal and Brake Pedal Position Switch Adjustment
   • Electric Servo Brake Control Unit Update - Refer to: Electric Servo Brake Control Unit Update (If the electric servo brake control unit does not have the latest software)
   • ECU Key Write (only when replacing electric servo brake control unit).
   • Sensor 0 (Zero) Position Memorize - Refer to: Electric Servo Brake System Sensor 0 (Zero) Position Memorization
6. F.-

   Preconditions 

   • 12 Volt Battery Terminal Disconnected

   Key Information 

   Do the following before starting your work.

   Remove: 

   • Windshield Wiper Area Parts
     1. -

        Front HVAC Intake Duct

     2. -

        HVAC Intake Duct Blocker

   Sub-Procedure 

   NOTE:

   • Do not damage or drop the VSA modulator-control unit as it is sensitive.
   • Do not use power tools when removing/installing the VSA modulator-control unit.

   Installation 

   • Connect the brake lines according to the following table.

   Assembly Position Details 

   Position	Access Point
   a	Pedal Feel Simulator
   b	Left-Rear Brake
   c	Right-Front Brake
   d	Left-Front Brake
   e	Right-Rear Brake

   After Installation 

   • 12 Volt Battery Terminal Reconnect
   • Brake System Bleeding - Refer to: Electric Servo Brake System Bleeding(3.0L Engine) or Electric Servo Brake System Bleeding(2.0L Engine)
   • Keyless Access System Registration (only when replacing VSA modulator-control unit)
   • VSA Modulator-Control Unit Update - Refer to: VSA Modulator-Control Unit Update or VSA Sensor Neutral Position Memorization (If the VSA modulator-control unit does not have the latest software)
   • VSA Modulator-Control Unit After Installation Check
     • Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
     • Apply and release the parking brake 2 times, then make sure that the brake system indicator (red) goes OFF.
       NOTE:

       If the brake system indicator (red) does not go OFF, check for a poor connection at the VSA modulator-control unit connector.

   • ECU Key Write (only when replacing VSA modulator-control unit).
   • VSA Sensor Neutral Position Memorization - Refer to: VSA Sensor Neutral Position Memorization
7. G.-

   Preconditions 

   • Brake Fluid Drained

     NOTE:  Drain the brake fluid from the reservoir with a syringe.
