Key Information
Do the following before starting your work.
Remove:
- Front Strut Brace Assembly
- Engine Heat Baffle - Refer to: Catalytic Converter/Turbocharger Area(3.0L Engine) or Catalytic Converter/Turbocharger Area(2.0L Engine)
Move:
- Expansion Tank - Refer to: Radiator Area(2.0L Engine) or Radiator Area(3.0L Engine)
- B.-NOTE:
Do not try to disassemble the tandem motor cylinder except for the reservoir union. Replace the tandem motor cylinder with a new part if necessary.
Preconditions
- 12 Volt Battery Terminal Disconnected
- Brake Fluid Drained
NOTE: Drain the brake fluid from the reservoir with a syringe.

- Expansion Tank Bracket - Refer to: Radiator Area(2.0L Engine) or Radiator Area(3.0L Engine)
Move:
- Expansion Tank - Refer to: Radiator Area(2.0L Engine) or Radiator Area(3.0L Engine)
Disconnect:
- Brake Lines (Pedal Feel Simulator Side)
Sub-Procedure

Be careful not to damage the pedal feel simulator surfaces and the threads of the booster stud bolts.
After Installation
- 12 Volt Battery Terminal Reconnect
- Brake System Bleeding - Refer to: Electric Servo Brake System Bleeding(3.0L Engine) or Electric Servo Brake System Bleeding(2.0L Engine)

- Install the yoke spring (a) then install the clevis pin (b) and the lock pin (c). (Figure 3 and 4)

- Brake Pedal and Brake Pedal Position Switch Adjustment
- Electric Servo Brake Control Unit Update - Refer to: Electric Servo Brake Control Unit Update (If the electric servo brake control unit does not have the latest software)
- ECU Key Write (only when replacing electric servo brake control unit).
- Sensor 0 (Zero) Position Memorize - Refer to: Electric Servo Brake System Sensor 0 (Zero) Position Memorization

Sub-Procedure
NOTE:- Do not damage or drop the VSA modulator-control unit as it is sensitive.
- Do not use power tools when removing/installing the VSA modulator-control unit.
Installation
- Connect the brake lines according to the following table.

- Keyless Access System Registration (only when replacing VSA modulator-control unit)
- VSA Modulator-Control Unit Update - Refer to: VSA Modulator-Control Unit Update or VSA Sensor Neutral Position Memorization (If the VSA modulator-control unit does not have the latest software)
- VSA Modulator-Control Unit After Installation Check
- Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- Apply and release the parking brake 2 times, then make sure that the brake system indicator (red) goes OFF.NOTE:
If the brake system indicator (red) does not go OFF, check for a poor connection at the VSA modulator-control unit connector.
- ECU Key Write (only when replacing VSA modulator-control unit).
