Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC 
    1. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Is the DTC active?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

      • Test complete.
  2. CHECK THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL SWITCH CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN 
    1. Check for an open on the Electronic Stability Control Switch circuit.

      Is there an open on the Electronic Stability Control Switch circuit?

      Yes 

      • Repair the open in the Electronic Stability Control Switch circuit.

      No 

      • Go To  3
  3. CHECK THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL SWITCH CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    1. Check for a short to ground on the Electronic Stability Control Switch circuit.

      Is there a short to ground on the Electronic Stability Control Switch circuit?

      Yes 

      • Repair the short to ground in the Electronic Stability Control Switch circuit.

      No 

      • Go To  4
  4. CHECK THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL SWITCH CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO BATTERY 
    1. Check for a short to battery on the Electronic Stability Control Switch circuit.

      Is there a short to battery on the Electronic Stability Control Switch circuit?

      Yes 

      • Repair the short to battery in the Electronic Stability Control Switch circuit.

      No 

      • Go To  5
  5. CHECK THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL SWITCH OPERATION 
    1. Connect the scan tool to the Body Control Module (BCM) and check that the Electronic Stability Control Switch is working properly.

      Does the Electronic Stability Control Switch work properly?

      Yes 

      • End of diagnosis.

      No 

      • Replace the Electronic Stability Control Switch.
