Removal And Installation
NOTE:
If this Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is being replaced with a new unit, use a diagnostic scan tool to perform the Flash Programming Procedure (if available). This will confirm that the module is updated to the latest applicable software level.
REMOVAL
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Remove the glove box. Refer to GLOVE BOX, INSTRUMENT PANEL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
.
- Working under the right side of the instrument panel, release the wire harness retainer (1a) from the fan unit.
- Working on the right side, remove the fasteners (2a) and move the AFLM (2b) to gain access to the wire harness connector.
- Disconnect the wire harness connector (3a) from the AFLM.
INSTALLATION
- Inspect the AFLM and wire harness connector integrity.
- Connect the wire harness connector (1a) to the AFLM.
- Position the AFLM (1b) for installation, then install and securely tighten the fasteners (2a).
- Secure the wire harness to the wire harness retainer (3a).
- Install the glove box. Refer to GLOVE BOX, INSTRUMENT PANEL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- When the AFLS module is replaced, the diagnostic scan tool needs to be used to calibrate the AFLS. Using the scan tool, select the AFLS and then select the "Misc Functions" menu. Select and start the "AFLS Calibration" routine. Follow the on-screen instruction to complete this procedure.
NOTE:
If this Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is being replaced with a new unit, a diagnostic scan tool MUST be used to determine if alignment of the PROXI configuration data into the new ECU is needed. If PROXI alignment is needed, follow the routine outlined in the diagnostic scan tool for PROXI Configuration Alignment under the Body Control Module (BCM) Miscellaneous Functions menu.
