Pcm Programming

NOTE:

If this Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is being replaced with a new unit, use a diagnostic scan tool to perform the Flash Programming Procedure.

If the Primary 2.9L or the 2.0L  Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is replaced:

  1. Connect the diagnostic scan tool.
  2. Flash the PCM.
  3. Perform the PROXI alignment procedure location under the BCM Misc Functions menu.
  4. Position the ignition to "OFF".
  5. Activate the hazard warning lamps.
  6. Navigate to the Body Control Module (BCM) menu.
  7. Select the "Miscellaneous Functions" menu.
  8. Perform the "BCM Secret Key Transfer to ECM" routine.
  9. Navigate to the PCM main menu.
  10. Select the "Miscellaneous Functions" menu.
  11. Select the "Engine Control Unit Replacement" and then perform the following procedures that are listed under "Manual System Configuration" on the scan tool.
    • SW download on the new ECM
    • PROXI realignment contained within the control unit replacement
    • Engine oil level initialization contained within the control unit replacement
    • Fuel circuit purge contained within the control unit replacement
    • Phonic wheel learning contained within the control unit replacement
    • Engine oil substitution contained within the control unit replacement
    • Original VIN lock contained within the control unit replacement

If the Secondary 2.9L  Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is replaced:

  1. Connect the diagnostic scan tool.
  2. Navigate to the PCM main menu.
  3. Select the "Miscellaneous Functions" menu.
  4. Select the "Engine Control Unit Replacement" and then perform the procedures that are listed under "Manual System Configuration" on the scan tool.
