Removal And Installation: 2.0L
NOTE:
If this Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is being replaced with a new unit, use a diagnostic scan tool to perform the Flash Programming Procedure (if available). This will confirm that the module is updated to the latest applicable software level.
REMOVAL
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Remove the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
.
- Disconnect the wire harness connectors (1) from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
- Remove the ground strap nut (1) and ground strap.
- Remove the PCM retaining screws (2a) and PCM (2b).
INSTALLATION
- Position the PCM on the engine for installation.
- Using the PCM retaining screws, secure the PCM. Tighten the screws to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Connect the ground strap and secure using the ground strap nut (2).
- Connect the wire harness connectors (1) to the PCM.
- Install the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Perform the PCM programming procedure. Refer to MODULE, POWERTRAIN CONTROL (PCM), MODULE PROGRAMMING .
NOTE:
If this Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is being replaced with a new unit, a diagnostic scan tool MUST be used to determine if alignment of the PROXI configuration data into the new ECU is needed. If PROXI alignment is needed, follow the routine outlined in the diagnostic scan tool for PROXI Configuration Alignment under the Body Control Module (BCM) Miscellaneous Functions menu.
