2.9L - Secondary
NOTE:
If this Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is being replaced with a new unit, use a diagnostic scan tool to perform the Flash Programming Procedure (if available). This will confirm that the module is updated to the latest applicable software level.
REMOVAL
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Remove the hood. Refer to HOOD, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
.
- Disconnect the wire harness connector (1) from the secondary Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
- Remove the lower nut (1) securing the secondary PCM support bracket.
- Remove the upper nuts (1a) and the secondary PCM with bracket (1b).
- If necessary, remove the screws (1a) and separate the secondary PCM (1c) from the bracket (1b).
INSTALLATION
- If previously removed, place the bracket on the secondary PCM and tighten the screws.
- Place the PCM in its housing, tighten the upper and lower nuts.
- Connect the wire harness connectors to the secondary PCM.
- Connect the diagnostic scan tool and perform the PCM programming procedure. Refer to MODULE, POWERTRAIN CONTROL (PCM), MODULE PROGRAMMING .
NOTE:
If this Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is being replaced with a new unit, a diagnostic scan tool MUST be used to determine if alignment of the PROXI configuration data into the new ECU is needed. If PROXI alignment is needed, follow the routine outlined in the diagnostic scan tool for PROXI Configuration Alignment under the Body Control Module (BCM) Miscellaneous Functions menu.
