Basic Setting

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1993 Audi 90 and 1993 Audi 100. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Lock camshafts at TDC No. 3 cylinder with Timing Fixture (V.A.G. 3243). Locating plates are used to position camshafts. Each locating plate has a large hole and a small hole. When installing timing fixture, ensure the large holes on locating plates face each other. See Fig 1 .
  2. Lock crankshaft at TDC No. 3 cylinder with Crank Locating Pin (V.A.G. 3242) inserted through threaded hole in block where reference sensor usually is, and into locating notch in crankshaft. See Fig 2 . Fit and tension cam drive belt. Remove timing fixture and locating pin.
