Residual Pressure
- Connect Pressure Gauge (VAG 1318) between fuel supply line and fuel rail. Open pressure gauge lever. Start engine. Turn off engine. Wait 10 minutes. If fuel pressure is at least 31.9 psi (2.2 bar) with engine cold, or 43.5 psi (3.0 bar) with engine hot, system is okay.
- If fuel pressure is as specified, check for leaks at pressure gauge connections and fuel lines. If no leaks are found, check fuel pump check valve. If check valve is okay, replace fuel pressure regulator.
