SERVICE INFORMATION
The information that follows is new and will be integrated with the next Repair Manual update.
ON BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD)
CODE CONTROL MODULE (SCAN TOOL FUNCTION 07)
Connect VAG 1551 scan tool, insert "Transmission Electronics" address word 02, and advance through program sequence until "Select function XX" is displayed. See Repair Manual, Automatic Transmission 01L All Wheel Drive, Repair Group 01.
Display will show the following:
Press buttons -0- and -7- to select "Code Control Module" function 07.
- Ignition switched on; engine not running
- Gear selector lever in "P" or "N" position
- Accelerator pedal at Closed Throttle Position (CTP)
- Vehicle not moving
Display will show the following:
Press -Q- button to confirm input.
Display will show the following:
Input code number according to table.
Press -Q- button to confirm input.
Press --> button.
Display will show the following:
Press buttons -0- and -1- to select "Check Control Module Versions" function 01, and press -Q- button to confirm.
Display will show the following: (example)
Check coding (refer to table).
If display shows the following:
- If an invalid code has been entered, the TCM will retain the old coding.
- Only older VAG 1551 program cards will display the TCM identification with the old coding after an invalid code has been entered.
If display shows the following:
An attempt has been made to input coding under conditions that do not permit it (e.g. transmission drive mode selected).
