Coding Remote Control Keys

NOTE: Every new non-coded remote control key MUST BE coded for the central locking control module. A maximum of 4 remote control keys may be coded. Ignition must be turned off between each coding procedure.
  1. Using a different key, turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check display group 007 to see how many keys have been programmed. See FUNCTION MODE 08: READING MEASURED VALUE BLOCK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM for displaying value block information. Field 3 of display group 007 (1100 = 2 remote transmitters) shows how many keys are programed and in which positions. See Fig 1 . In this figure, a key has been programmed in position 1 and 2. The number one indicates a key has been programmed in that position, and the number zero indicates an open position for programming a new key.
NOTE: New keys MUST be programmed in an open position, or key previously programmed in that position will no longer operate central locking system.
  2. Lock vehicle from outside driver's door using key to be programmed. Within 5 seconds, press OPEN on remote control key 3 times, or until open memory location is reached. Each time a button is pressed, emergency flashers will light, and memory location for programming will advance. Wait 5 seconds.
  3. Press OPEN again. Vehicle will unlock. Turn ignition off and remove ignition key. Check remote control key operation. Check display group 007 again. If a total of 3 keys are programmed, 1110 is displayed.
