Adaptation Of Kickdown Function

NOTE: Ignition must remain on for entire adaptation procedure.

Kickdown function adaptation must be performed when voltage supply to Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) sensor or ECM is lost, or if either component is replaced.

Connect VAS 5051 or equivalent scan tool to DLC. DLC is located behind cover under left side of steering column. Using scan tool check and clear any DTCs in memory. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES . Using VAS 5051, from SELECTION 1 click on function "04" BASIC SETTING. Follow scan tool instructions to enter BASIC SETTING function. From BASIC SETTING function, select "DISPLAY GROUP NUMBER 063". Press "Q" button to confirm input. Follow scan tool instructions for APP sensor adaptation. ERROR message on scan tool indicates problem with adaptation (e.g. accelerator pedal not pressed completely when prompted). If ERROR message is displayed, basic setting function must be exited and adaptation started over again from beginning. Scan tool display will read ADP OK when adaptation is completed successfully. End function "04 - BASIC SETTING" by pressing "back arrow" button on scan tool.
