Function 08 - Read Measuring Value Block

Different control modules can transmit a variety of test data. Test data provides information on the operating condition of the system and/or its sensors. FUNCTION 08 - READ MEASURING VALUE BLOCK provides a way to display test data using display group numbers. Test data can provide support in diagnosing and correcting malfunctions.

Before entering FUNCTION 08 - READ MEASURING VALUE BLOCK. Run engine until coolant temperature is 176° F (80° C) or more. Switch A/C off. Transaxle is in Park or Neutral. Connect VAS 5051 or equivalent scan tool to DLC. DLC is located behind cover under left side of steering column. Turn ignition on, or start engine as necessary for testing procedure. Using scan tool, select vehicle system "01 - ENGINE ELECTRONICS". Select diagnostic function "08 - READ MEASURED VALUE BLOCK". Enter display group MAX. INPUT VALUE = 255 then appropriate 3-digit group number in button field 2, scan tool displays appropriate data.
