Multi-function steering wheel switches/buttons, removing and installing: Removing
CAUTION:
Before beginning repairs on the electrical system
- Obtain anti-theft radio security code if necessary.
- Switch the ignition off.
- Disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap.
- On vehicles equipped with Audi Telematics by OnStar(R), switch-off the emergency (back-up) battery for the Telematic/Telephone Control Module prior to disconnecting vehicle battery. Use VAS 5051 Vehicle Diagnostic, Testing and Information System in mode "Guided Fault Finding". See EMERGENCY BATTERY, SWITCHING OFF/ON .
- After reconnecting vehicle battery, re-code anti-theft radio if necessary, and check operation. Also check operation of clock and power windows according to Repair Manual and/or Owner's Manual.
- After reconnecting vehicle battery on vehicles equipped with Audi Telematics by OnStar(R), switch-on the emergency (back-up) battery for the Telematic/Telephone Control Module. Use VAS 5051 Vehicle Diagnostic, Testing and Information System in mode "Guided Fault Finding". See EMERGENCY BATTERY, SWITCHING OFF/ON .
NOTE:

WARNING:

- Unlatch steering column adjustment. Pull steering wheel as far out and up as possible.
- Remove airbag unit
Refer to appropriate Air Bag article in Restraints .
- Carefully flip airbag unit forward.
- Carefully disconnect electrical connections -1- and -2- at airbag unit.
- Remove airbag unit.
- Disconnect applicable electrical connections -3- and remove screws -arrows- at desired switch.
- Remove switch toward front.
- Where applicable, remove Tiptronic switch -1- by first disconnecting electrical connection -2-.
- Press desired switch assembly -1- towards center of steering wheel to remove.
