Checking DTC memory

- Start engine and let idle.
- Depress brake pedal once briefly.

1) Operating modes 1 and 2 appear alternately
- Press button -1- to select "Rapid data transfer" opera mode 1.
Indicated on display
- Press button -0- twice to insert "Automatic Test Sequence" address word 00 and press -Q- button to confirm input.
- The VAG 1551 scan tool sends all known address words in sequence.
- If a control module responds with its identification, the number of stored malfunctions or "No DTC recognized" is indicated on the display.
- Any malfunctions stored in a system (as Diagnostic Trouble Codes, or DTCs) are displayed and printed in sequence. Then, the VAG 1551 scan tool sends the next address word.
Indicated on display. The automatic test sequence is ended.
1) Operating modes 1 and 2 appear alternately
- Switch ignition off.
If malfunctions were stored, a repair is necessary. The print-out from the VAG 1551 scan tool should be given to the Service department.
NOTE:
The VAG 1551 scan tool must remain connected for adaptation of the Service Reminder Indicator (SRI) and possibly for emissions testing (where applicable).
