Code Control Module (function 07)
The control module installed in the vehicle is coded. New control modules from the parts distribution center are uncoded and must be coded after being installed.
Coding is only possible if a dealership number is stored in the VAG1551 scan tool.
Test sequence
- Determine engine code.
- Connect VAG1551 scan tool and select the control module for brake electronics with ignition switched on (address word 03);. Refer to Selectable functions, overview .

NOTE:
If a code is entered that is appropriate for the vehicle type but not the engine code, it will be accepted by the control module but must be corrected anyway.

If the control module is coded with a code that is not appropriate for the vehicle type:

NOTE:
- If the control module is coded with 00000, the ABS warning light -K47- and the warning light for brake system -K118- will blink constantly, and the ESP control lamp -K155- will remain constantly lit.
- If the ESP control lamp -K155- lights up for only 100 milliseconds after ignition is switched on, a code has been entered that does not include ASR/ESP regulation.
