Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory, checking (function 02)
- Connect the vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051. Refer to Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051, connecting and selecting functions , and select the vehicle system "01 - Engine electronics" from the menu. When doing this the engine should be idling.
NOTE:
If the engine does not start, turn the engine over for at least 5 seconds using the starter. After doing this, do not switch off the ignition.
Display on VAS 5051:
- Select diagnosis function "02 - Check DTC memory" from the menu -1-.

Display on VAS 5051:
1 - Content of DTC memory:
[small diamond] 0 faults detected
or
[small diamond] X faults detected
2 - Identification of fault
[small diamond] DTC
[small diamond] Location/cause of fault
[small diamond] Type of fault
A - If one or more faults have been detected:
- Print out screen display or self-diagnosis log.
- Press the ← button to exit from function "02 - check DTC memory".
Display on VAS 5051:
- Rectify fault(s) according to instructions in DTC table. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) table .
- Again select diagnosis function "02 - check DTC memory" from the menu and then erase DTC memory. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory, erasing (function 05) .
- Select diagnosis function "06 - End output" End Output (function 06) .
B - If no faults have been detected:
- Select diagnosis function "06 - End output" End Output (function 06) .
NOTE:
- Do not erase the DTC memory if no fault is stored, otherwise the readiness code will be reset.
- The readiness code must be re-generated if the DTC memory has been erased. Refer to Generate readiness code .
