Output Diagnostic Test Mode (function 03)

NOTE:
  • The Output Diagnostic Test Mode can only be performed with the ignition switched on and the engine not running.
  • The electric fuel pump runs continuously throughout the Output Diagnostic Test Mode.
  • During the Output Diagnostic Test Mode, each control element (except the injectors) is activated for about 1 minute unless the test program is deliberately advanced to the next control element by pressing the Δ button.
  • The control elements can be tested either by listening or by touching.
  • The Output Diagnostic Test Mode is terminated if the engine is started or if an engine speed pulse is detected.
  • If the Output Diagnostic Test Mode is to be repeated, the engine must be started and the ignition switched off and then on again.

The Output Diagnostic Test Mode activates the following components in the stated sequence:

Activation sequence
1 Evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge -N80-
2 Secondary air injection (AIR) solenoid valve -N112-
3 Secondary Air Injection (AIR) Pump Relay -J299-
4 Wastegate bypass regulator valve -N75-
5 Camshaft timing control
6 Leak detection pump tank ventilation system
7 Recirculating valve for turbocharger -N249-
8 Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Solenoid Valve -N115-
9 Cylinder 1 Fuel Injector -N30-
10 Cylinder 3 Fuel Injector -N32-
11 Cylinder 4 Fuel Injector -N33-
12 Cylinder 2 Fuel Injector -N31-
