Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory, checking

Connect vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051. Go to VAS 5051 VEHICLE DIAGNOSTIC, TESTING AND INFORMATION SYSTEM, CONNECTING AND SELECTING FUNCTIONS . Select vehicle system "01 - Engine electronics" in selection. Engine should be idling.

NOTE: If the engine will not start, crank it for at least 5 seconds with the starter and then always leave the ignition on.

Under -1- select diagnostic function "02 - Check Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory".

- Content of the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory:
- 0 Faults recognized
or
- X Faults recognized
- DTCs
- DTC code
- DTC location
- DTC type

- If malfunctions were recognized:
- Print out screen content or self-diagnosis report.
- Exit function "02 - Check Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory" by pressing < button.

- Repair malfunction(s) as specified in DTC table. Go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTC): P0011 TO P1228, VAG 16395 TO 17636 .
- Reselect diagnostic function "02 - Check Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory" and erase DTC memory. Go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) MEMORY, ERASING .
- Select diagnostic function "06 - End output" in selection. Go to ENDING OUTPUT .
- If no malfunction was recognized:
- Select diagnostic function "06 - End output" in selection. Go to ENDING OUTPUT .
