Multi-Function Transmission Range Switch, Checking

NOTE:

The Multi-Function Transmission Range (TR) Switch -F125- is a component of the Mechatronic unit in the transmission.

Requirements

Test sequence

-- Switch the ignition on.

-- Depress the brake pedal and maintain depressed.

-- Shift the selector lever into all positions.

The selector lever position must correspond to the display of the Control Module with the indicator unit in the Instrument Cluster Control Module -J285-.

-- Switch the ignition off.

If the selector lever position does not correspond to the display of the Control Module with indicator unit in the Instrument Cluster Control Module -J285- :

-- Disconnect the electrical connector in the -direction of the arrow- and remove it from the Transmission Control Module (TCM) -J217-.

-- Observe safety precautions.

-- Check the electrical harness connector for contact corrosion and ingress of water.

If the electrical harness connector is not OK:

-- Repair the malfunction and repeat the test sequence.

If the electrical harness connector is OK:

-- Check the wiring according to the wiring diagram:

If no malfunctions are found in the wiring:

-- Replace the Mechatronic unit in the transmission. Refer to ATF PAN, ATF FILTER AND MECHATRONIC OVERVIEW

NOTE:

The Transmission Control Module (TCM) -J217- is a component of the Mechatronic unit and cannot be replaced separately.

-- Assembly is performed in the reverse of the removal.

  1. Check the DTC memory. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC MODE 03 - READ DTC MEMORY .
  2. If necessary, erase DTC memory of the Transmission Control Module (TCM) -J217-. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC MODE 04 - ERASE DTC MEMORY .
  3. Generate readiness code. Refer to READINESS CODE .
  4. End diagnosis
