NOTE:

The Variable Intake Manifold Runner Motor (V183) Was Subsequently Replaced As A Running Change By The Intake Manifold Tuning Valve (N156). A Time Stamp Was Not Provided. Check Your Vehicle And Appropriate Wiring Diagram For Applicability.

General Description 

The Variable Intake Manifold Runner Motor -V183- is controlled by the Engine/Motor Control Module -J623- to increase the EGR rate by reducing the overpressure in the intake manifold.

Test Procedure 

Step Procedure Result / Action to Take
  • PERFORM: Preliminary Check to verify the customers complaint. Refer to PRELIMINARY CHECK .
-- Was Complaint verified?
-- YES: -- NO:
  • GATHER more Information from customer about the complaint.
  • IGNITION: OFF.
  • REMOVE: Variable Intake Manifold Runner Motor -V183- far enough so that the harness connector terminals are accessible.
  • DISCONNECT: Variable Intake Manifold Runner Motor -V183- harness connector.
  • IGNITION: ON.
  • CHECK: Variable Intake Manifold Runner Motor -V183- harness connector terminals 1 to 3 for voltage.
  • CHECK: Variable Intake Manifold Runner Motor -V183- harness connector terminal 3 to battery voltage for voltage.
  • IGNITION: OFF.
  • SPECIFIED VALUE: Battery voltage.

-- YES: -- NO:
  • REMOVE: Engine/Motor Control Module -J623-. Refer to appropriate service information.
  • CHECK: Variable Intake Manifold Runner Motor -V183- harness connector terminal 2 to the Engine/Motor Control Module -J623- harness connector T60 / 49 for resistance.
  • SPECIFIED VALUE: 0.5 Ω (± 0.3 Ω)
