Dynamic Steering Lock

The dynamic steering gear can be locked mechanically to assure a safe fall back level should the system malfunction. The lock is always locked during normal operation when the internal combustion engine is off. The dynamic steering unlocks when the engine is started which can be noticed by a "clicking sound". An electric magnet, which is attached the gear housing, activates the lock. The lock for the dynamic steering is controlled via a wire from the Active Steering Control Module -J792-.
