Kick-Down Function, Adapting After Replacing Gas Pedal Module Or Engine Control Module
If the accelerator pedal module with throttle position sensor or engine control module are replaced in vehicles with a S-tronic transmission or automatic transmission, the kick-down function must be adapted.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Vehicle Diagnostic, Testing and Information System VAS 5051B with Diagnostic Cable VAS 5051/5A
Procedure
- No faults in DTC memory.
- Engine is stationary
-- Connect the VAS 5051B while the ignition is switched off.
Display on VAS 5051B:
-- Switch ignition on.
-- Press the Vehicle Self-Diagnosis button -1- in the selection.
Display on VAS 5051B:
-- In selection -1-, press the 01 - Engine electronics vehicle system and continue by pressing the → button.
Display on VAS 5051B:
-- In selection -1-, press the basic setting function and continue by pressing the → button.
Display on VAS 5051B:
-- In button field -1-, press the 6 3 buttons for Display group 063 and confirm the entry by pressing the Q button.
-- Press the Activate button -A- and start the basic setting.
Display on VAS 5051B:
-- Check indication in display fields -3- and -4-.
Appearing in the display: actuate kickdown
-- Depress accelerator pedal completely past the kick-down point and hold depressed.
Appearing in the display: kickdown ADP is running
-- Check specified value in display fields -3- and -4-.
Appearing in the display: kickdown ADP is OK
If Kickdown ERROR appears: check the DTC memory.
ERROR could be displayed for example if the accelerator pedal is not immediately depressed after prompting the tester or if the accelerator pedal is released during adaptation, even though adaptation had not been completed. Exit the basic setting function by pressing the ← button and perform the adaptation again.
-- End the basic setting function by pressing the ← button.
-- Select the =End output function in the selection.
-- Turn the ignition off and disconnect the Data Link connector (DLC).
