Front Information Display Control Head, Removing And Installing

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

Removing: 

Perform the following work:

-- Turn off the ignition and all electrical equipment.

-- Remove the retaining clip in the storage compartment on the instrument panel -arrow-.

-- Release the storage compartment and pull up slightly in the direction of -arrow- until the underlying bolts are visible.

-- Unscrew the bolts -arrows- at the front information display control head.

It is necessary to remove the buttons identified by the -arrows-, from the display unit.

-- Pry the buttons out carefully in direction of -arrow- using Trim Removal Wedge: 3409  , as illustrated.

NOTE:

If any of the buttons get damaged while being removed, they can ordered as a replacement part. Pay attention the replacement part number because there are different versions for different countries.

The slots for the removal tools will be visible once both buttons are removed -arrows-.

-- Insert two of the Radio Removal Tool: T10057  into the slots until they lock into place. The word TOP, on both the left and right tools, must be facing up.

NOTE:

The removal tools may only be inserted into the provided slots. If not, the circuit board behind the buttons could get damaged.

-- Remove the front information display control head from the installation frame in direction of -arrows-.

NOTE:

Depending on vehicle equipment, there may be additional connectors installed. Also disconnect and remove these connectors.

-- Release and disconnect the connectors -1- through -5-.

Installing: 

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

-- Install both buttons on the display unit.

-- Push the display unit into the frame in direction of -arrow- until it locks in place.

NOTE:

Do not press on the display and control buttons of the display unit with force during assembly.

When replacing radio navigation system control modules, it is necessary to adapt the replaced control modules to the vehicle. If this is not performed, component protection is activated for these control modules so that they do not work or only on a highly limited basis.

Adapt the control module. Refer to ANTI-THEFT COMPONENT PROTECTION .

-- Make sure the buttons that were removed earlier work correctly.
