Test Procedure

NOTE: When the door is opened or the Ignition is turned to the ON position the fuel pump is activated for 2 seconds to build up the pressure in the fuel system.

2	IGNITION: ON LISTEN: Transfer Fuel Pump -G6- Should be heard running for 2 s SPECIFIED VALUE: Transfer Fuel Pump ON for 2 s IGNITION: OFF -- Was value obtained?	-- YES: Condition may be intermittent PERFORM: Visual Inspection of wiring and component CHECK: wiring for open, high resistance, short or connector for damage, corrosion, loose or broken terminals REPAIR: faulty wiring or connector GO TO: Step 7 -- NO: GO TO: Step 3
3	DISCONNECT: Fuel Pump Control Module -J538- IGNITION: ON CHECK: Fuel Pump Control Module -J538- wiring connector terminal 12 to 6 for voltage SPECIFIED VALUE: Battery voltage IGNITION: OFF -- Was value obtained?	-- YES: GO TO: Step 4 -- NO: CHECK: Fuel Pump Relay -J17- CHECK: wiring for open, high resistance, short or connector for damage, corrosion, loose or broken terminals REPAIR: faulty wiring or connector REPLACE: Any open fuses or Relays GO TO: Step 7
4	RECONNECT: Fuel Pump Control Module -J538- DISCONNECT: Transfer Fuel Pump -G6- CRANK: Engine CHECK: Transfer Fuel Pump -G6- wiring connector terminals 1, 2 and 3 to ground for voltage while engine is cranking IGNITION: OFF SPECIFIED VALUE: 7 - 11 V -- Was value obtained?	-- YES: REPLACE: Transfer Fuel Pump -G6-, Refer to proper repair information for removal and replace procedures GO TO: Step 7 -- NO: GO TO: Step 5
5	CHECK: Transfer Fuel Pump -G6- wiring connector terminals 1 to Fuel Pump Control Module -J538- wiring connector terminals 2 for resistance CHECK: Transfer Fuel Pump -G6- wiring connector terminals 2 to Fuel Pump Control Module -J538- wiring connector terminals 7 for resistance CHECK: Transfer Fuel Pump -G6- wiring connector terminals 3 to Fuel Pump Control Module -J538- wiring connector terminals 1 for resistance SPECIFIED VALUE: 0.5 Ω (± 0.3 Ω) -- Was value obtained?	-- YES: GO TO: Step 6 -- NO: CHECK: wiring for open, high resistance, short or connector for damage, corrosion, loose or broken terminals REPAIR: faulty wiring or connector GO TO: Step 7
6	REMOVE: Engine Control Module -J623-. Refer to the appropriate repair information. CHECK: Fuel Pump Control Module -J538- wiring connector terminal 4 to Engine Control Module -J623- connector terminal T91 / 19 for resistance SPECIFIED VALUE: 0.5 Ω (± 0.3 Ω) -- Was value obtained?	-- YES: REPLACE: Fuel Pump (FP) Control Module -J538-. Refer to the appropriate repair information. GO TO: Step 7 -- NO: CHECK: wiring for open, high resistance, short or connector for damage, corrosion, loose or broken terminals REPAIR: faulty wiring or connector GO TO: Step 7
7	Final Procedure Perform a road test to verify repair. Do any DTC's return:	-- YES: Check the DTC memory. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC MODE 03 - READ DTC MEMORY . Perform the diagnostic procedure for that DTC. FAULT DOES RETURN: no malfunction is detected in the wiring. REPLACE: Engine Control Module -J623-. Refer to proper repair information for removal and replace procedures. -- NO: Repair is complete, Generate readiness code. Refer to READINESS CODES . Return vehicle to Customer
