Power Steering Pump, Removing And Installing, Vehicles With Dynamic Steering With 6-Cylinder Engine: Installing

Installation is the reverse of removal, with special attention to the following:

NOTE:

Replace seals and sealing rings.

Before installing the new power steering pump on the intake side, fill the Hydraulic Oil and install it by hand until oil drains out on the high pressure side.

Secure all hose connections with new hose clamps .

NOTE:

Due to space restrictions, the clamp cannot be tightened using the Hose Clip Pliers VAG 1275A when the power steering pump is installed.

Make sure the intake hose is installed correctly and is not twisted or bent.

-- Note the installed dimension of the clamp. The dimension -a- must be 4 mm.

-- Install the intake hose -3- so that the "P" and the seam -arrow- are facing each other before installing the power steering pump, refer to -item 5- in Figure

-- Install the intake hose with a new clamp -4-.

NOTE:

Make sure the intake hose is installed correctly and is not twisted or bent.

-- Install the power steering pump -2-.

-- Turn the hub by hand until the oil comes out the pressure side.

-- Push the pressure line all the way into the power steering pump and then install the union nut -1-.

-- Connect the connector -2-.

-- Clean oiled places in engine compartment.

-- Align the marking -arrow- made on the belt pulley to the marking made on the hub.

-- Tighten the bolts -arrows- by using the Counterhold - Multiple Use T10172A -1- with the Counterhold - Kit - Adapter 5 Counterhold - Kit - Adapters 5-9 T10172/5-9.

-- Install the power steering pump ribbed belt, refer to [For engine(s) CTUB] Cylinder Block - Belt Pulley Side , [For engine(s) CPNA] Cylinder Block - Belt Pulley SideCylinder Block - Belt Pulley Side .

-- Bleed the steering, refer to STEERING, BLEEDING AFTER REPLACING .

-- Check the steering for leaks, refer to STEERING, CHECKING FOR LEAKS .

-- Check power steering fluid level, refer to POWER STEERING FLUID LEVEL, CHECKING .

NOTE:

When installing ribbed belt, ensure it is correctly seated in ribbed belt pulley.
