Multifunction Transmission Range Switch -F125-, Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
-- Install the Multifunction Transmission Range Switch -F125- -4- on the gearshift shaft -6-.
-- Install the bolts -5- for the Multifunction Transmission Range Switch -F125- by hand in the transmission.
-- Install the washers -2 and 3- on the selector shaft -6-.
- Install the washer -2- with the hooks facing up.
- Install the washer -2- with the long narrow guide into the long narrow depressions in the selector shaft -6-.
-- Tighten the nut -1- to the tightening specification.
-- Tighten the nut -1- and secure it by bending the hook on the washer -2- upward.
Replace the lock washer if several of the hooks break off while being bent.
Adjust the Multifunction Transmission Range Switch -F125- before installing the gearshift lever on the gearshift shaft, refer to MULTIFUNCTION TRANSMISSION RANGE SWITCH, ADJUSTING .
-- Attach the gearshift lever -3- to the gearshift shaft -4-.
-- Move the gearshift lever -3- into "N" position. This means push the gearshift lever -3- opposite the direction of travel rearward until stop.
-- Then move the gearshift lever -3- into "N". Push the gearshift lever -3- two positions forward in the direction of travel.
-- Mount the spring washer -2- and the nut -1- on the selector shaft -4-.
-- Tighten the nut -1- to the tightening specification.
-- Check the selector mechanism, refer to GEARSHIFT MECHANISM, CHECKING .
-- Install the bracket -2- for the ATF cooler and the ATF cooler -1- on the transmission, refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID BRACKET, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install the battery tray and the battery, refer to BATTERY TRAY, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VERSION 1 or BATTERY TRAY, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VERSION 2 , also see OVERVIEW - BATTERY, BATTERY IN LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT .
-- Install the air filter housing, refer to OVERVIEW - AIR FILTER HOUSING (2.0L 4V TFSI Engine: EA 888 Generation II, As of 01/2018) or OVERVIEW - AIR FILTER HOUSING (2.0L 4V TFSI Engine; EA 888 Generation II, As of 09/2016). (For Air Filter Housing 2.0L 4V TFSI Engine; EA 888 Generation III, As of 12/2017, information not available). .
-- Observe measures after connecting the battery, refer to CONNECTING (Battery in Engine Compartment), or CONNECTING (Battery in Luggage Compartment) .
