Pinpoint Test Z : DTC U0100:00

  1. Z1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER'S CONCERN

    • Ignition ON.
    • Verify if there is an observable symptom present.

    Is an observable symptom present? 

    Yes  GO to  Z2.
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  2. Z2 VERIFY THAT A VEHICLE SESSION CAN BE ESTABLISHED USING THE DIAGNOSTIC SCAN TOOL

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, attempt to establish a vehicle session.

    Can a vehicle session be established? 

    Yes  GO to  Z3.
    No  REFER to Module Communications Network .
  3. Z3 RETRIEVE THE PCM DTCs

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the PCM KOEO self-test.

    Are any non-network DTCs present in the PCM ? 

    Yes  REFER to PCM DTC Chart in Electronic Engine Controls .
    No  GO to  Z4.
  4. Z4 RETRIEVE THE BCM DTCs

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.

    Are any DTCs present in the BCM ? 

    Yes  REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules .
    No  GO to  Z5.
  5. Z5 RECHECK FOR DTC U0100:00

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear all CMDTCs.
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Wait at least 10 seconds.
    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, retrieve the CMDTCs from the GPSM.

    Is DTC U0100:00 still set in the GPSM ? 

    Yes  GO to  Z6.
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  6. Z6 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE GPSM SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the GPSM self-test.

    Are any non-network DTCs recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to the Global Positioning System Module (GPSM) DTC Chart .
    No  GO to  Z7.
  7. Z7 CHECK FOR DTC U0100 SET IN MULTIPLE MODULES

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, retrieve the CMDTCs from all modules.

    Is DTC U0100:00 or U0100:87 set in more than one module? 

    Yes  GO to  Z8.
    No  If there is an observable symptom, REFER to the Symptom Charts  to diagnose the observed symptom.If there is no observable symptom, the system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  8. Z8 CHECK FOR CORRECT PCM OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect and inspect all the PCM connectors.
    • Repair:
      • Corrosion (clean module pins or install new connectors or terminals)
      • Damaged or bent pins (install new terminals or pins)
      • Pushed-out pins (install new pins as necessary)
    • Reconnect the PCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to Electronic Engine Controls .
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
