Power Steering Pump, Removing And Installing, 8-Cylinder FSI, With Dynamic Steering: Removing
-- Place the vehicle on a hoist.
-- Extract the hydraulic fluid from the reservoir using Used Oil Collection and Extraction UnitSMN372500.
-- Clamp off the evacuation hose -1- and return hose -2- using the Hose Clamps - Up To 25mm 3094.
- The Hose Clamps - Up To 25mm 3094 must not be secured on the return hose -2- near the check valve area. Otherwise the check valve will be damaged.
- The check valve is located in the return hose -2- between the hose clamps -arrows-.
-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Lower the subframe. Refer to SUBFRAME WITHOUT STEERING GEAR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove heat shield for left drive axle -arrows-.
-- Place the Shop Crane - Drip Tray VAS6208 underneath.
-- Remove the clamp -2- from the intake hose -1- and remove the intake hose -1- from the power steering pump.
-- Disconnect the connector (not illustrated) on the regulator valve.
-- Remove the union nut -3- and remove the pressure line -4- from the power steering pump.
-- Remove the bolts -5- and the bolt -6-.
-- Remove the power steering pump with input shaft.
-- If necessary, remove the power steering pump input shaft -arrow- from the engine by hand.
-- If the power steering pump -1- is replaced, the seal -2- and input shaft -3- must also be replaced.
-- Replace the power steering pump seal and o-ring -arrow-. .
